Abstract:   (701 Views)
Background and Aim: Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Complications of stroke include heavy medical costs and long-term rehabilitation. Studies show that the age of acute stroke in Iran is lower than the average age in other parts of the world and is higher in mortality. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the predictors factors of stroke in patients with stroke diagnosis.
Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with census sampling at Ghaem Hospital, Alborz. Iran in 2019. The medical records of all patients with a diagnosis of stroke in the first 9 months of the year were retrospectively reviewed.
Results: A total of 567 patients with stroke diagnosis were studied. Males comprised 56% of the sampling. The mean age of the patients was 58 years. Respectively, the most frequent predictors including high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias, treated with anticoagulant drugs, diabetes, obesity and the cause is unknown.
Conclusion: physicians and nurses with knowledge of these factors can have an important role in providing appropriate treatment and care to reduce the incidence and complications of this disease. Also, Awareness of the predictors factors of stroke can be useful in providing primary care for prevention and general education at community level.
